Position**: Senior SQL Server Performance Analyst \| SQL Server Performance Analysis Specialist** Location: Mexico Work Model: Remote Contract Type: 3\-6 months Schedule: Monday to Friday Language: Technical English Minimum Experience: \+5 years Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field **Key Responsibilities** Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of our SQL Server databases to ensure application speed, efficiency, and scalability. Query Tuning (Query Analysis and Optimization): Identify long-running or resource-intensive SQL queries. Analyze execution plans, rewrite complex queries, and propose creating or modifying indexes to improve efficiency. Performance Issue Diagnosis: Investigate and resolve performance issues such as blocking, deadlocks, excessive waits, and resource contention. Workload Analysis and Stress Testing: Plan and execute load tests to simulate demand peaks, identify breaking points, and ensure system scalability. Reporting and Documentation: Generate detailed reports on performance status, improvements made, and future recommendations. Document best practices and findings for the development and operations teams. **Technical Skills and Competencies** Expert Level: Advanced T\-SQL: Proficiency in writing and optimizing stored procedures, functions, triggers, and complex queries. Execution Plan Analysis: In-depth knowledge of interpreting graphical and XML execution plans to identify costly operators and improvement opportunities. Native Diagnostic Tools: Dynamic Management Views (DMVs) and Functions (DMFs): Extensive use of views such as sys.dm\_exec\_query\_stats, sys.dm\_os\_wait\_stats, sys.dm\_io\_virtual\_file\_stats, and sys.dm\_db\_index\_physical\_stats. SQL Server Extended Events: Ability to create and manage extended event sessions for capturing detailed performance data with low impact. Query Store: Skill in analyzing query performance history and forcing stable execution plans. SQL Server Profiler / SQL Trace: Experience capturing traces for detailed analysis (although Extended Events are preferred for modern versions).
