Apply here to start an extraordinary career today.** We are currently seeking a **Plant Chemical Analyst.** Your primary objective will be to operate the Combined Cycle Power Plant from the control room in coordination with field operators to safely and efficiently supervise field operations at the AES Mérida III Power Plant, as well as authorize work permits for preventive and corrective maintenance activities at the plant. The Chemical Analyst analyzes and monitors various chemical parameters of the water\-steam process, closed cooling circuit, cooling tower, effluent water, filtered water, osmosed water, demineralized water, reverse osmosis, and fuels required for steam generation and power generation (diesel). Maintains statistical control of various variables in the demineralized water processes, corrects deviations detected in processes through timely, high\-quality, and reliable laboratory chemical analysis, and follows up on corrections made to the process. Provides technical support to various operational areas to ensure chemical control programs are properly executed. Reports and issues instructions to Shift Team Leaders (LOT) and above (according to Operations Leader and above, LOP), and may issue instructions even to field operators (as long as coordinated with the LOT) and supervisors regarding the chemical conditions of various processes. **Main job responsibilities:** * Analyzes various chemical process variables through laboratory chemical analysis, as well as calorific value, metal, and sulfur content analysis of the diesel fuel used at the plant. * Monitors and reviews various chemical process variables to verify proper performance and reliability. * Initiates corrective actions when process deviations are detected, coordinating with the LOT and field operators, and monitors until deviations are under control. * Maintains statistical control of various process variables. * Reports findings and provides instructions based on analyses to the LOT, field operators, LOP, and personnel involved in various steam generation processes. * Provides technical support to various operational areas to implement water chemical control programs. * Performs appropriate analyses to confirm data obtained from various online process analyzers. * Prepares laboratory solutions for the various analyses performed. * Records data in electronic operation logs to maintain process operation records. * Interprets analytical results from various process tests. * Issues work notifications when process equipment requires maintenance and provides technical support to maintenance personnel when requested. * Works collaboratively with maintenance staff, field operators, LOT, and LOP during contingencies or emergencies arising during operations. In coordination with the area supervisor, develops analytical techniques and procedures for various area processes. * Reports physical inventories of various chemicals used in the process. * Coordinates with the LOP to request chemicals needed for the plant from the procurement department and requests supply from the chemical supplier holding the concession for the chemical product, to maintain necessary stock levels for proper plant operation. * Prepares and handles specific chemicals used in the water\-steam process, closed circuits, cooling towers, water plants, effluent areas, and reverse osmosis, always working in compliance with current plant safety and environmental standards. * Knows and applies NOM\-001\-SEMARNAT\-2021, using it as a basis for operational control decisions in coordination with the operations team, LOT, and LOP. * Keeps laboratory materials and analytical measurement equipment assigned to their responsibility in good condition, calibrated, and clean. * Works in an orderly manner, always following company\-established safety and environmental measures. * Coordinates the receipt of chemical products. * Supports activities during emergencies or annual maintenance outages. * Applies policies, objectives, and procedures of the Integrated Management System (quality, environment, and safety) and the Strategic Asset Management Plan (PEGA), as well as internal controls relevant to their area. * Ensures compliance with Asset Management System requirements and Safety, Health, and Environmental standards of the Integrated Management System according to current ISO standards in the organization, collaborating with campaigns and designed plans. **Position requirements:** * Education: Requires knowledge equivalent to completion of a full professional degree in Chemical Engineering. * Experience: Requires up to three years of experience in water treatment processes, laboratory chemical analysis, and power generation plants. * Experience using personal computers and statistical tools. * Laboratory and Fuel Analysis handling. * Handling of Specialty Chemicals. * Physicochemical treatments in boilers, steam, and cooling towers. * Handling of pressure vessels. * Metrology and Regulatory Standards. * Proficiency in MS Office. * SAP system proficiency. * Statistical process control skills. * Ability to work in teams and make decisions, interpersonal skills, and ability to foster a healthy work environment and satisfaction among internal plant customers. * Ability to consult and understand technical manuals and apply them during work activities. * Knowledge of physicochemical analysis of fuel materials (Diesel), use of calorimetric bomb, sulfur and metal determination equipment. * Knowledge of water treatment plants (clarification, filtration, demineralization, wastewater, reverse osmosis), power generation plants (PLC, online instrumentation, electrical installations, pumps), and common laboratory equipment (spectrophotometer, pH meters, conductivity meters, ion chromatograph, turbidimeter, etc.) * Knowledge of environmental legislation and safety and hygiene regulations applicable to laboratories and water plants. * Knowledge and handling of chemicals and chemical mixtures. **We are the energy that improves the lives of more than 10 million people, through the many benefits electricity provides.**
