Objective Responsible for developing local data management strategies to implement Scotiabank's data governance operating model across all business lines and corporate functional domains. Work closely with internal partners to transform data into a strategic asset for the bank. The Director of the Data Office for MX will define, implement, and oversee compliance with industry\-leading data practices and data management capabilities, aligned with the company's strategic priorities, business line priorities, and country regulatory requirements. Responsibilities 1\. Develop and implement local data management and first\-line data governance strategies, including: * Define medium\- and long\-term data strategy and the necessary operating framework to unlock data value through advanced analytics, MIS, and digitization * Recommend investments in data capabilities and products required to meet growing demands and regulatory priorities in the country. * Set priorities in alignment with business and control functions (producer and consumer domains); coordinate investments and operational budgets for data management programs/initiatives to ensure business focus. * Effectively collaborate with key C\-level teams, and executive\-level data producers and consumers, to ensure alignment and commitment to model data governance policies, priorities, practices, standards, and operations. * Partner with business stakeholders to develop data management and governance capabilities, influencing decisions related to policies, practices, supporting technology, and talent development. * Communicate the strategic value of data monetization, its important role as a business asset and revenue generator, to executives, regulators, employees, partners, and customers in the country. * Identify strategic revenue opportunities for the country's data assets. * Work closely with business IT leadership, data analytics teams, custody, and infrastructure teams, ensuring alignment with data teams, avoiding conflicting activities, and leveraging more efficient data analytics insights across the business. * Lead and support IB data strategic initiatives that strengthen Scotiabank's global data and advanced analytics capabilities. * Evangelize and communicate a data vision as a fundamental part of the growth strategy. * Define and establish the country's Data Council. * Establish data quality measurements and incident management capabilities for the country and provide appropriate metrics to executive management as part of second\-line data KRI reporting. * Align Data Governance program priorities with key business and regulator priorities and secure executive\-level agreement. 2\. Define and facilitate implementation of the organizational structure and operating model required to support data program objectives, including: * First\-line data governance structures at enterprise level and subsidiaries under its jurisdiction. * Facilitate and govern the establishment of mature data domains and business accountability through essential data management roles (such as executive data sponsors, data stewards, system custodian executives, data system custodians, business process owners). * Define conceptual business data architecture and work with technology partners to implement and ensure a unified view across the organization. * Develop and implement necessary metrics (KPIs) to monitor/report on progress in data management. de datos. 3\. Implement data governance capabilities in compliance with Scotiabank's data risk policies and standards, including: * Ensure that data governance and management capabilities are implemented in accordance with all business policies and controls. * Assess opportunities to improve data privacy and customer data governance, policies, and practices. * Within the Bank's overall operational and risk management framework, oversee execution procedures and standards for data to ensure compliance, continuous business value, and mitigation of data risks at the highest security level. * Ensure effective management and, when necessary, mitigation controls for material risk exposures, particularly those exceeding or having the potential to exceed the approved risk appetite limit. * Provide leadership in communicating data risk appetite to help embed sound risk\-taking into the Bank's risk culture. * Create a high\-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team, fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating business vision/values/strategy and managing continuity and development planning for the team. * Create an environment where the team maintains efficient and effective operations within their respective areas, while ensuring adequacy, compliance, and effectiveness of daily business controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, and Global AML/ATF Guidelines for Business Conduct. Education / Experience * Extensive experience in a senior Data Analytics or Data Science position within a fast\-paced and complex business setting. The position requires having gained vast experience building and leading data organizations or practices, as well as successful experience evangelizing/advocating for data analytics value across a business and to diverse audiences. * Ability to set strategic direction and define practical data management solutions to data issues * Ability to design team structures, frameworks and processes to deliver results in a global matrixed organization * Highly skilled in the design, development, and validation of descriptive, predictive, prescriptive, and applied analytics. * He must also have a proven and successful experience in a consulting role for senior business leadership and executives. As well as experience with hands\-on leadership roles directly managing data and/or analytics teams, and driving change within a large, complex business. * Excellent communication skills; must be capable of conveying information and messages with clarity and precision to technical and non\-technical stakeholders * The position will also play a highly collaborative role where he/she will interact with stakeholders, departmental heads and leadership, as well as other executives.
