




We are Muebles Lacandona, a leading manufacturing company with over 25 years of experience in the furniture industry, and due to expansion, we are looking for your talent as **an intern**. **Typical Education** * **Studies:** Student or recent graduate in majors such as **Industrial Engineering**, **Mechatronics Engineering, Business Administration, Process Engineering**, or fields related to operations and quality management. * **Certifications:** Although not always mandatory, interest or training in **White Belt** or **Yellow Belt** of Six Sigma is valued. **Responsibilities (Examples of Tasks)** A typical continuous improvement intern performs tasks such as: * **Observation and Data Collection:** Spend time in the field (plant, office) to understand processes and gather data on time, defects, or waste. * **Project Support:** Assist the continuous improvement team in specific projects, such as tracking action plans. * **Documentation:** Create or update standard work documentation (SOPs). * **Waste Analysis:** Help identify the 7 or 8 forms of waste (**Muda**) in processes (overproduction, waiting, transportation, over-processing, inventory, movement, defects). * **Training:** In some cases, assist in training other employees on new practices or basic improvement tools. **Profile of a Continuous Improvement Intern** focuses on a person who is learning and supporting process optimization and operational efficiency within an organization. These interns typically work under the supervision of a mentor or a continuous improvement team (such as Lean or Six Sigma). **Key Skills and Knowledge** Interns in this area should possess a combination of **technical (hard) skills** and **personal (soft) skills**. **Hard Skills (Technical)** * **Knowledge of Methodologies:** Familiarity with principles of **Lean Manufacturing**, **Six Sigma** or similar. This includes the **PDCA** cycle (Plan\-Do\-Check\-Act) and tools such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), and A3\. * **Data Analysis:** Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data to identify inefficiencies and measure results. * **Software Proficiency:** Basic competence in spreadsheets (**Excel/Google Sheets**) for data analysis, and possibly familiarity with visualization software (such as Power BI or Tableau) or statistical tools. * **Process Documentation:** Skill in mapping and documenting current processes (**"As Is"**) and proposing future processes (**"To Be"**). **Soft Skills (Personal)** * **Analytical Mindset:** Curiosity and ability to question the *status quo* and seek root causes of problems (for example, using the **5 Whys** technique). * **Proactivity and Initiative:** Willingness to take initiative in identifying improvement opportunities without constant direction. * **Effective Communication:** Ability to clearly present findings and proposals to different levels of the organization. * **Teamwork:** Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, as continuous improvement often spans multiple departments. * **Adaptability:** Flexibility to work on different projects and methodologies.
