General Accountant
**The Opportunity:**
Our client, a manufacturing facility located in Mexico, has partnered with ML6 in their search for a General Accountant to join their team! The General Accountant is responsible for managing core accounting, treasury, and tax activities, as well as supporting audits, payroll, and administrative functions. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and proper management of company assets, contracts, and banking operations. **What You'll Be Doing:**
**Treasury & Banking**
* Manage and safeguard company checkbooks, electronic keys, and bank contracts.
* Maintain and update authorized signatures, electronic keys, and banking documentation.
* Execute and monitor all banking transactions.
* Manage federal and state tax payments, as well as social security fees, via the banking portal.
**Taxes**
* Calculation of taxes
* Capture and review tax incidents and social security contributions.
* Review and authorize import/export tax obligations.
* Support and supervise accounting and tax compliance matters.
**Accounts Payable (AP)**
* Receive, review, and schedule supplier invoices for payment.
* Record supplier invoices without purchase orders.
* Monitor and follow up on supplier payments.
* Register and maintain supplier records in the system.
* Update intercompany (related party) accounts payable files.
**Month-End Close**
* Prepare journal entries for bank commissions, wire transfers, severance pay, and leases.
* Prepare journal entries and working papers for month-end and payroll closing.
* Support the overall accounting closing process.
**Audit / Lease / Transfer Pricing**
* Prepare and safeguard audit documentation and files required for transfer pricing.
* Maintain, review, and track lease calculations and related documentation.
**Administrative Work**
* Manage and control petty cash.
* Review contracts with focus on payment, tax, and insurance clauses.
* Safeguard and archive all company contracts.
* Administer general services (e.g., vending, water, internet, etc.).
**Assets**
* Ensure proper asset control and maintain fixed asset inventory.
* Review and verify asset depreciation calculations.
**GSS Transactions**
* Post material receipts, material absorption, labor absorption, and related AP/month-close transactions.
**Foreign Trade**
* Supervise compliance with foreign trade regulations, tax obligations, and audits.
**What You'll Need to Be Successful:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
* 5+ years of professional accounting experience within a Manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, treasury operations, and foreign trade.
* Ability to communicate effectively in conversational English, including technical accounting terminology.
* Proficiency with accounting systems, banking portals, and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Experience working with an ERP System.
* High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
* Knowledge of foreign trade regulations and intercompany transactions is a plus.
