We are looking for a person focused on mathematical models of mechanical characterization, with experience at the intersection of applied mathematics and materials. The work centers on modeling the mechanical behavior of polymeric films and multilayer structures, including how mechanical energy is dispersed in materials used to protect electronic devices. The goal of the role is to predict the mechanical behavior of polymeric films using mathematical and numerical models to support materials discovery. The work involves close collaboration with both the simulation team and the ML team, integrating mathematical, chemical, and machine-learning models into unified prescriptive tools that guide the discovery of new materials. **Required background** * Background in applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, materials science, or physics, with a strong modeling focus * Proven experience in mechanical modeling (academic or industrial) * Experience translating physical phenomena into mathematical formulations * Familiarity with mechanical characterization concepts, including but not limited to stress–strain behavior, energy absorption, and static and dynamic bending * Experience working with real material data, not purely theoretical work **Nice to have** * Programming experience using Python for numerical modeling or data analysis **Responsibilities** * Work closely with laboratory teams to understand experimental setups and results * Define and request experiments needed for model development, understanding, and validation * Formulate and test hypotheses to represent mechanical phenomena mathematically, following the scientific method * Validate models using experimental data Employment type: Full-time Salary: $22,000.00 – $32,000.00 per month Benefits: * Sick days * Free parking * Flexible hours * Major medical expense insurance Relocation/moving ability: * 44610, Lomas Del Country, Jal.: Ability to commute to work without difficulty or plan to relocate before starting work (Mandatory) Education: * Completed master's degree (Preferred) Location: * 44610, Lomas Del Country, Jal.
