Together, we create impact and drive success! **About the role:** The Controller owns a portfolio of client accounts and steps into most of the client\-facing controller work currently handled by the owner. This role is responsible for accurate, timely accounting; clear financial reporting; and proactive communication with small\- and mid\-sized business clients. The Controller must be comfortable working remotely, coordinating with a distributed team, and leading conversations with U.S.\-based business owners. **What you'll do:** * **Primary accounting contact** for assigned clients, providing ongoing **client management and advisory**. * Lead **recurring client calls** (monthly / bi\-weekly) to **review financials** and explain results in **clear, non\-technical language**. * **Identify key issues** (cash flow, margins, variances, compliance) and **recommend actionable next steps**. * **Own full\-cycle accounting and month\-end close**, including **reconciliations, revenue recognition, AP/AR review, payroll entries, accruals, and prepaids**. * Prepare **accurate monthly financial statements** (**P\&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow**) and **management reports**. * Maintain **strong workpapers and documentation** supporting all balances and adjustments. * Work primarily in **QuickBooks Online**, adhering to **firm SOPs** for bookkeeping and close. * **Identify and resolve errors** in client books; lead **cleanup and correction projects**. * Recommend **process improvements and automations** to increase efficiency and consistency. * **Collaborate with bookkeeping teams** (onshore and nearshore) to ensure **timely, high\-quality delivery**. * **Review delegated work** and provide **constructive feedback**. * Consistently use and contribute to **firm templates, checklists, and SOPs**. **Qualifications:** * **Bachelor’s degree** in **Accounting** or **Finance**, or **equivalent practical experience**. * **Minimum 5 years of hands\-on accounting experience**, with **progressive growth** up to **Senior Accountant role**, including **month\-end close ownership**. * **Direct experience preparing monthly financial statements** for **small to mid\-sized businesses**. **Skills:** * Strong proficiency with **QuickBooks Online** (multi\-entity, classes, projects or similar). * Solid Excel/Google Sheets skills (vlookup/index\-match, pivot tables, basic modeling). * Solid understanding of **U.S. GAAP** for small businesses. * Demonstrated ability to clean up messy books (unreconciled accounts, misclassifications, prior\-period issues).
