Description

Position Summary: The Technology Cost Management Analyst examines and works with financial data within the IT organization to ensure smooth, timely, and accurate execution of internal IT financial processes. There is a strategic and critical need to understand how IT services and assets translate into billable components, such as timing differences between recurring monthly charges (which are typically billed in advance), usage-based services (which are often billed in arrears), and software licenses, which frequently involve prorated charges that may not exactly align with purchase orders. This understanding is essential for accurate financial planning, reconciliation, and cross-functional alignment between IT and Finance. More specifically, the technology cost management analyst supports the broader IT organization to ensure budgetary alignment, support existing cost allocation processes, and help create new ones when necessary. This role has broad exposure and serves as a liaison between IT and other corporate teams, such as Finance, Tax, Human Resources, as well as operational platform financial contacts. Responsibilities: * Track vendor billing processes, including monitoring purchase orders created for products. * Code and/or review invoices within the SAP environment. * Perform monthly reclassifications, including but not limited to the following products/services: * Redistribute costs from a single invoice across multiple cost centers using reports provided by the vendor or FLS owner. * Redistribute costs from a single invoice over a longer future service period where IT pays the cost upfront and recovers this prepayment through monthly reclassifications to users of the service. * Redistribute costs from a single invoice over a longer future service period where IT pays the cost upfront and recovers this prepayment through monthly reclassifications to users of the service. * Redistribute reservation license costs. IT reserves software licenses for various products and provides the license to the end user, then bills new users monthly based on the list provided by the vendor. * IMACD purchases in the U.S. (and occasionally other purchases) made via corporate Pcard and reclassified once per month. * Monthly accruals including: o Review purchase order and invoice records for status, current balances, and inquiries. o Cloud storage and cloud-based services. o Other accruals as needed. * Perform budget analysis and cost comparisons as required. Requirements: * Expert proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis tools, and complex charting techniques. * Strong experience with SAP or other major ERP systems, including ability to run advanced queries in G/L and A/P, retrieve customer information in A/R, and export data into other formats for review/analysis. * High degree of accuracy in data handling and ability to effectively analyze errors. * Fluent English (spoken and written) with ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of global stakeholders. Preferred Skills: * Prior experience in large organizations dealing with multiple legal entities regarding billing and monthly cost movements from one organization/legal entity to another. * Ability to convey/explain complex concepts necessary for understanding cost allocation to staff with little or no IT experience. * Understanding of the functionality and purpose of reclassification and cost distribution. * Analytical thinking patterns and ability to creatively solve problems, with guidance from management when necessary. * Practical knowledge of US GAAP and SOX standards.
