Job Description and Responsibilities
* Using internal tools, promptly and accurately submit purchase orders for various materials not held in stock to complete necessary components for production (e.g., blank garments, external garment trims, etc.)
* Support the Senior Procurement Manager and/or Procurement Supervisor on projects as needed or assigned
* Issue mill purchase orders (MPOs) to the appropriate mill partner as needed and upon request from the Production counterpart
* Review systematic reports to identify errors in purchases or inventory levels
* Coordinate with external suppliers on cost validations, stock ETAs, backorders, etc., and implement contingency plans to secure optimal timing and cost
* Track all inbound shipments from mill partners, monitoring progress until receipt at the final destination and readiness for assignment by the Production counterpart
* Maintain tracking logs and Production Work-in-Progress (WIP) documents to ensure all team members are well-informed and able to negotiate Time & Action (T&A) calendars
* With an in-depth understanding of the production lifecycle and product offerings from relevant suppliers, communicate challenges and solutions effectively and professionally with internal and external cross-functional teams
* Demonstrate critical thinking skills, evaluating all angles to identify the best possible solution to meet customer deadlines and requirements
* Frequently review fabrics, garment fit and specifications, colors, and conduct comparisons to identify suitable substitute items for sales and other cross-functional partners
* Show willingness to learn and adapt to the ever-changing environment inherent in the fast fashion industry
* Show willingness to learn and become proficient in all aspects of the supply chain to better support internal and external cross-functional teams; including but not limited to mill blank suppliers and their offerings, garment specifications and technical details, and understanding of suitable substitutions
Experience and Requirements
* Advanced English proficiency
* Associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent purchasing-related experience
* Experience in the apparel industry or related field preferred
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish required
* Openness to working in a dynamic environment
* Strong analytical skills
* Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
