Department Operations Reports to Manufacturing Manager / Operations Manager Purpose Coordinate the production area and serve as a link with other support areas to foster a favorable work environment, following established quality, safety, environmental, and lean manufacturing processes, in order to meet the plant's production indicators. Production Planning and Coordination * Plan, direct, and coordinate production operations to ensure schedule compliance, optimal use of resources, and cost control. * Establish priorities and adjust the production plan in coordination with Materials, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering. * Supervise the proper execution of TPM activities, traceability, model changes, and compliance with operational standards. * Ensure compliance with the skills matrix and certifications for operational personnel. 2\. Leadership and Personnel Management * Lead and develop the team of production supervisors and leaders, promoting professional growth, a culture of accountability, and teamwork. * Evaluate performance, define training plans, and provide effective feedback to subordinates. * Coordinate with supervisors on vacation scheduling and disciplinary actions. * Maintain constant communication with the team to align objectives, resolve conflicts, and reinforce organizational culture. (Delivering safety, quality, and environmental talks) * In conjunction with Human Resources, and adhering to the collective bargaining agreement, administer discipline and ensure fair and respectful treatment for all unionized and administrative employees in the manufacturing department. * Participate and ensure supervisor leadership in root cause analysis and problem-solving with multidisciplinary teams due to internal or external quality issues, scrap, and machine downtime. 3\. Performance Management and Continuous Improvement * Monitor key business indicators (KBM’s), efficiency, scrap, and downtime, taking corrective actions together with the team. * Lead key operational meetings (shift start-up, Fast Response, GAP review, and Chart Room). * Coordinate and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, waste reduction, and cost-saving projects. * Ensure execution and follow-up of the annual 3/6/9/12 plan activities for the manufacturing area. * Follow up on inventory variances (negative, positive) identified in CMS, identifying and executing preventive and corrective actions within their area of responsibility. 4\. Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance * Ensure operations comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards aligned with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, BIQS, and other applicable regulations. * Actively participate in audits (internal and external) and lead the response to findings related to manufacturing. * Have the authority to stop production in case of safety or quality risks to protect the customer. * Coordinate responses to critical deviations together with Engineering and Quality. 5\. Communication and Reporting * Report to the Manufacturing Manager on operational results, personnel performance, and resource projections. * Ensure timely recording, analysis, and communication of results (manpower, logs, incidents, CMS). * Supervise that all operational information is updated and visible in the Chart Room and internal systems. * Effectively communicate any changes in schedules, operational plans, and overtime to all personnel under their supervision in coordination with Human Resources. * Follow up on daily closure of incidents in the Dayforce system by Manufacturing Supervisors. 6\. Strategic Participation * Participate in interdepartmental meetings (H\&S, Quality, APQP) and new product or process projects. * Represent the manufacturing area in plant improvement initiatives and strategic activities. * Manage the performance and skill development of all direct reports. * Execute additional tasks assigned by Manufacturing Management or Plant Management as required by business needs to achieve objectives. * Provide feedback to Supervisors, Leaders, and Employees regarding expectations, quality claims, and production activities. * Ensure the company provides a work environment where 6S standards, order, cleanliness, and safety are consistently met in all areas under their responsibility. * Analyze and report to the Manufacturing Manager on the effectiveness of plant manufacturing operations and forecast optimal manpower resources for efficient operations. * Participate in LPAs and follow-up actions generated from any audit to track open tasks related to manufacturing. * Collaborate in interviews for new hires for both unionized and non-unionized production personnel. * Perform other tasks assigned by Manufacturing Management or Plant Management. Job Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field * Demonstrated understanding and experience in manufacturing environments similar to Flex N Gate commodities * At least 5\-7 years of progressive work responsibilities in a manufacturing environment managing operational staff * Customer service orientation * Strong skills in root cause analysis and practical problem solving * Basic knowledge of accounting and finance as related to manufacturing * Ability and desire to act in a coaching and/or mentoring role * Knowledge of safety, occupational health, and Mexican labor laws * Effective written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective presentation abilities * Knowledge and understanding of machinery, equipment, and technical aptitude * Ability to know when to take responsibility and when to delegate * Strong commitment to safety, product quality, productivity, and continuous improvement * Knowledge of lean manufacturing * Negotiation and prioritization skills * Results-driven mindset * High sense of urgency * Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Benefits * Christmas Bonus * Vacation Bonus * Savings Fund (not applicable to all plants) * Grocery Vouchers * Life Insurance * Major Medical Expense Insurance
