Preventive and corrective maintenance Optical fiber installation Responsibilities of a Splicing Technician Optical fiber splicing (fusion and mechanical): Perform precise connections between optical fiber cables using fusion splicers. Installation and configuration of optical networks: Install NAP cabinets, optical distributors, splice trays, and other network components. Carry out aerial or underground cable laying. Interpret network diagrams, cable routing plans, and splice schematics to execute work correctly. Signal measurement and testing (OTDR, Power Meter): Use specialized equipment to measure attenuation and verify splice quality and fiber continuity. Preventive and corrective maintenance: Conduct periodic inspections and repair faults or breaks in the optical fiber network. Prepare progress reports, test reports, and splice records, as well as logs of materials used. Follow industrial and electrical safety protocols to prevent fieldwork hazards. Perform work at heights, in underground ducts, and under varying weather conditions.
