The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of modern pedagogy, adolescent development, and a genuine love for teaching Spanish language learners. We are looking for an educator committed to creating a positive, rigorous, and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to excel. ### **The Role** The successful applicant will be an expert in facilitating creative opportunities for Upper School students to flourish. Beyond grammar and syntax, you will view the teaching of Spanish literature as a vehicle for developing critical thinking, analytical writing, and global citizenship. You will promote collaborative practices, encouraging respect for diverse viewpoints and cultivating a sense of responsibility within both local and global contexts. The ideal candidate is an inquisitive, flexible, and optimistic educator who thrives in a teamwork\-oriented environment and inspires students through their own intellectual curiosity. ### **The successful candidate will:** * **Collaborate:** Work effectively within a vibrant community of students, colleagues, administrators, and parents. * **Mentor:** Connect authentically with adolescents, fostering a classroom culture built on mutual respect and a sense of humor. Additionally, serve as an Upper School Advisor. * **Instruct:** Teach five sections of Spanish Language, developing student skills in analytical writing, research, and communication using a rich variety of literary and non\-literary texts. * **Design:** Create imaginative, rigorous, and culturally competent lesson plans and assessments that are student\-centered and thought\-provoking. * **Include:** Demonstrate the ability to work with culturally diverse populations and a commitment to inclusive education. ### **Education and Experience** * **Bachelor’s Degree** in Spanish Language or Literature, Education, or a related field is required. * **Master’s Degree** in Education or a related field is preferred. * **Experience:** At least two years of experience in a similar teaching role, preferably at the secondary level. * **Curriculum:** Experience with the IB Diploma Programme (DP) or Middle Years Programme (MYP) is strongly preferred. * **Language:** Native fluency in Spanish. B2 Proficiency in English is required to engage with the broader school community and faculty.
