Learn more at www.averydennison.com . **Job Description** **ABOUT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:** The Offset Printing Technician is a skilled professional responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining offset presses to produce high-quality printed materials. This role requires solid knowledge of printing processes, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and quality issues. The technician also plays a crucial role in the prepress phase, collaborating to ensure print readiness, and may participate in product development to optimize designs for efficient and high-quality printing. Works closely with prepress and finishing departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of printed products. **Responsibilities**: * Validate the performance of printing plates and masters on the press. * Mix and adjust inks to achieve specific colors, ensuring accurate color matching and consistency throughout the print run. * Load paper into the press, adjusting feed and tension controls. * Set up and operate offset printing presses for single-color and multi-color jobs. * Calibrate press settings for different printing jobs, including ink flow, water balance, and registration. **Prepress Involvement:** * *Collaborate with the prepress department to review and approve digital files for print preparation.* * *Identify potential issues with artwork, color profiles, fonts, or resolution that could affect print quality or production efficiency.* * *Provide feedback to prepress and design teams regarding optimal file preparation for offset printing, including considerations for trapping, imposition, and color separation.* * *Assist in plate-making processes or provide input for plate quality control as needed.* **Input into Product Development:** * Provide technical expertise and practical knowledge during the design and development phases of new printed products. * Advise on material selection (paper, cardboard, special substrates), print finishes (varnishes, coatings, laminations), and structural design to ensure feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and optimal print quality. * Offer recommendations to designers and clients on how best to achieve desired visual effects while respecting the capabilities and limitations of offset printing. * Participate in prototype reviews and provide production-oriented feedback. **Quality Control:** * Conduct pre-production tests and pull proofs to verify ink coverage, density, alignment, and registration. * Inspect printed materials for defects, ensuring all outputs meet customer and company quality standards. * Monitor print quality throughout the production process, making necessary adjustments to maintain color accuracy, registration, and overall print clarity. **Safety and Compliance:** * Follow all safety protocols and procedures in the printing environment, including proper use of PPE. * Ensure compliance with company quality standards and policies. **Qualifications** * Technical degree or high school diploma preferred. * 2 or more years of related experience. * Understanding of applicable computer systems such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and function-specific software. * Strong mathematical and analytical skills. * Good verbal and written communication skills. * Strong organizational and attention-to-detail abilities. * Ability to interact with cross-functional teams to define and execute overall requirements. * Familiarity with documentation and process improvement. **Additional Information** Each of us, Every day!
