Long-Term Planning Engineer Job Description Department: Operations Planning & Engineering Reports To: Superintendent of Technical Services Direct Reports: Planning Supervisor or Short-Term Planner Location: Santiago de Pinos, Terronera Unit, Jalisco. Job Purpose: Develop Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans and biennial operational budgets, incorporating mine infrastructure engineering projects, ensuring mining operations’ efficiency, safety, and sustainability, while collaborating with ventilation and pumping personnel to reconcile and optimize long-term pumping and ventilation special projects. Responsibilities: * Prepare development and production budget (Budget) and long-term mine life (LOM) plans, updating such budget semiannually (FORECAST). * Develop strategic and operational plans from a long-term perspective, and perform adjustments in FORECAST (semiannual) as needed due to deviations arising from unforeseen events or ground conditions. * Monitor scheduled development and production progress to reconcile actual execution versus planned targets, thereby identifying deviations and implementing immediate corrective actions or necessary adjustments to long-term plans and sequencing. * Establish detailed schedules or sequences to ensure achievement of production objectives, ventilation and underground pumping projects. * Supervise implementation of mine engineering designs or projects that could affect sequencing and deviate production and preparation strategy if not executed timely and as scheduled. * Coordinate execution of projects with multidisciplinary teams. * Ensure compliance with technical, safety, and environmental regulations across all production plans and engineering projects. * Identify improvement opportunities in mining processes and develop initiatives to optimize efficiency and productivity. * Implement innovative technologies and practices to enhance operations. * Conduct risk reviews and assessments, implementing corrective measures when required. * Perform operational and project data analysis to inform performance and efficiency reporting. * Prepare detailed reports and presentations for operational management. * Develop and supervise implementation of planning and engineering policies and procedures. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all activities and projects. * Prepare, control, and monitor departmental budget (OPEX\-CAPEX). * Maintain confidentiality of all project- and company-related information. * The activities listed herein are indicative, not exhaustive, of the role. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: * Geology: To obtain data for decision-making on blocks to be mined and receive updated geological models for long- and medium-term planning. * Medium- and Short-Term Planners: Deliver Budget projects and plans so they understand plan objectives, and in turn receive feedback on execution versus planning. * Mine: Monitor scheduled development and production progress. * Superintendent of Technical Services: For review and approval of plans, evaluations, and engineering projects. * Safety: To comply with company safety standards. * Environment, Tailings Dam, and Community Relations: Surface topographic support. * Administration: To monitor internal planning budgets. * (Warehouse and Procurement): To track purchase requests and departmental maximum/minimum controls. External: * Software vendors for updates or technical support through training. * Consultants and technical experts in resources and reserves. * Ventilation and pumping consultants: For long-term planning. REQUIREMENTS: Experience: • Minimum 5 years of experience in planning and engineering, preferably within the mining sector. * Prior experience in supervisory or technical team management roles. Education: • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields. Skills and • In-depth understanding of engineering principles applied to Specialized mining, including extraction methods, mineral processing, and Knowledge: mine design. * Advanced knowledge of planning and project management techniques. * Proficiency in mining planning and management software. * Ability to make decisions and resolve technical and operational problems. * Capability to analyze complex data, identify potential project issues, and propose effective solutions. * Ability to develop short-, medium-, and long-term plans aligning operational objectives with the company’s strategic vision. * Excellent communication and leadership skills. * Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
