That’s why we recruit outstanding minds from all backgrounds. **The Packaging Engineer** will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing innovative and efficient packaging solutions for products manufactured at the plant. Their primary objective will be to ensure packaging meets requirements for product protection, sustainability, cost-effectiveness, functionality, and market appeal—while optimizing packaging processes and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. **Key Responsibilities:** * **Packaging Design and Development:** + Design and develop new primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging, as well as packaging components, from concept through mass production. + Collaborate closely with WH, R\&D, and Quality teams to understand product requirements. + Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and other tools to create prototypes and detailed specifications. * **Optimization and Continuous Improvement:** + Evaluate and optimize existing packaging to improve product protection, reduce costs, minimize environmental impact, and increase production line efficiency. + Identify and propose innovative packaging materials and technologies. * **Material Selection and Evaluation:** + Research, select, and qualify appropriate packaging materials (e.g., plastics, cardboard, glass, metals) based on cost, performance, sustainability, and availability. + Work with suppliers to ensure material quality and supply continuity. * **Testing and Validation:** + Plan and conduct packaging tests (e.g., drop, vibration, compression, environmental tests) to ensure packaging protects the product during transportation, storage, and handling. + Document test results and implement necessary adjustments. * **Regulatory and Quality Compliance:** + Ensure all packaging designs and materials comply with applicable industrial, environmental, safety, and quality regulations (e.g., ISO, GMP, FDA where applicable). + Develop and maintain accurate technical packaging specifications. * **Production Support:** + Provide technical support to production lines to resolve packaging-related issues and ensure smooth operations. + Collaborate on selection and implementation of packaging machinery. * **Project Management:** + Lead or participate in packaging projects, managing timelines, budgets, and resources. * **Documentation:** + Create and maintain technical packaging documentation, including drawings, specifications, test reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) **What do you need to succeed in this role?** * Industrial, Mechanical, or Logistics Engineering—or related field * Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in similar roles (packaging engineering) * Knowledge of packaging solution design and development * Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) * Familiarity with various packaging materials (plastics, corrugated board, paperboard, glass, metals, etc.) is a plus * Familiarity with high-speed packaging equipment and processes, packaging test methodologies, design-for-manufacturing principles, and design-for-assembly principles * Knowledge of applicable quality (ISO, GMP) and safety regulations **Equal Opportunity Employment Statement** Siemens is an equal opportunity employer and affirmative action employer that encourages diversity in the workplace.
