




***Essential Duties and Responsibilities*** 1\. Possesses, understands, and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures related to the electric power system domain and associated SEL products. 2\. Trains and assists customers in the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of control and automation systems. 3\. Completes and implements assigned work within the agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget, maintaining a high level of quality and safety. 4\. Participates in the development of functional design specifications. 5\. Prepares and maintains detailed design documentation, reports, checklists, test reports, and deliverables. 6\. Adheres to and applies SEL’s core values, Operating Principles, and World-Class Manufacturing principles. 7\. Understand. Create. Simplify. 8\. Other duties as assigned. ***Required Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree in Communications Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline. More than 5 years of relevant experience in electric power system applications, such as design, testing, or commissioning of PCYM panels. Strong knowledge of electric power system control, integration, automation, and communication applications. Practical knowledge of electrical power system design, studies, information and communication technology, and protective relay applications. Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for at least 25%, depending on area of focus. Strong written, documentation, and verbal communication skills. Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities. Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. Satisfactory background check results for SEL. Negative drug test result(s). ***Preferred Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree in Control and Automation Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field. Experience in PCYM and integrated system testing, electrical services, and industrial plants. Experience handling control and communication equipment. Practical knowledge of protective relay software such as AcSELerator, DIGSI, and Enervista. English proficiency at B2 level. ***Area of Focus = Automation Testing Engineer*** * Power system automation testing; testing of communication devices from various manufacturers including SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB, etc., along with knowledge of their applications. * Proficiency with software tools such as AcSELerator, RTAC, Architect, Diagram Builder, Quickset, DIGSI 5, ASE2000, IEDScout, Enervista, Survalent, etc. * Configuration, modification, and testing of communication and protocol settings, as well as knowledge of Boolean and graphical programming. * Working knowledge of protection schemes for distribution and transmission systems, including feeders, disconnect switches, transformers, reactors, capacitors, busbars, transmission lines, etc. * Working knowledge of substation configurations, switching procedures, and understanding of logical and physical interlocks for circuit breakers and isolators. * Working knowledge of ANSI codes for electrical protection. * Knowledge of industrial protocols (IEC-61850, DNP 3.0, Modbus), Ethernet networks, protocol analyzers, and SCADA systems.
