Responsibilities: The Field Service Engineer will be involved in performing services and testing related to air-insulated (Metalclad) and SF6 gas-insulated primary and secondary medium-voltage distribution switchgear for electrical substations. Primarily an on-site position, requiring business travel to customer facilities. On-site travel may reach up to 80–90% of productive time—potentially national and/or international depending on site location. Key Responsibilities: * Supervision and execution of activities related to air- and SF6 gas-insulated switchgear (AIS–GIS) for electrical substations, including: * Assembly, coupling, and disassembly. * On-site electrical testing. * Testing of protection/measurement equipment. * Preventive and/or corrective maintenance. * On-site technical surveys for component identification. * Installation of spare parts and/or components for switchgear. * Rehabilitation of equipment reported as damaged. * Technical advisory support to customers (on-site/remote). * Repairs and/or problem resolution (on-site/remote). * Training courses for AIS–GIS switchgear. * Ensuring compliance with electrical regulations and safety procedures (NOM, NEC, ANSI, IEC, CFE–PEMEX reference standards, among others). * Generation of service reports, logbooks, meeting minutes, test protocols, work schedules, etc., ensuring all performed work meets customer requirements and conducting Customer Satisfaction Surveys for delivered services. * Availability for urgent on-site customer support. * Coordination, preparation, and assurance that all materials, parts, and test equipment (where applicable) are available and of appropriate quality for all scheduled services and/or repairs to be performed by Field Service Engineers. * Monitoring compliance with EHS requirements. * Communication and teamwork with external departments (partners, customers, suppliers) to properly execute commissioning activities. * Providing technical support to internal business unit departments. * Communication and teamwork with SIEMENS departments (Project Manager responsible for the project and/or EHS) to identify areas for improvement during assembly and commissioning activities. What Do You Need to Succeed? * Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field. * Solid knowledge of electricity is required. * Candidates with specific experience in medium-voltage distribution switchgear are particularly sought. * Intermediate technical knowledge of Medium-Voltage Switchgear (Air-Insulated and SF6 Gas-Insulated) regarding mechanical and electrical aspects, control schematics, and single-line diagram interpretation. * Experience reading and interpreting electrical control schematics and single-line diagrams. * Experience in installation/assembly, pre-operational electrical testing, and commissioning of medium-/low-voltage switchgear. * Experience analyzing and interpreting electrical test results for medium-/low-voltage switchgear. * Knowledge of tools for SF6 gas handling (DILO, WIKA, MEGGER). * Knowledge of equipment used for electrical testing (contact resistance, insulation resistance, operating times, Hi-Pot, vacuum integrity, polarity, etc.). * Familiarity with digital platforms/software such as Microsoft Office and digital test equipment software. * Proficiency in using basic hand tools. * Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. * Professional and positive customer interaction skills. * English language proficiency (desirable). * Valid driver’s license and highway driving skills.
