Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen tools and equipment and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machinery. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radios). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all main service disconnect switches for buildings. Maintain maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as needed. Communicate daily activities and issues to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs and standards. Demonstrate basic knowledge or aptitude to acquire knowledge in the following areas: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building operations. Prepare and paint surfaces; perform minor repairs to partitions and woodwork; replace light bulbs and air conditioner filters; and thoroughly clean painting or repair areas. Test, diagnose malfunctions, and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components—including lamps, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices—as well as replacing switches and outlets and other guestroom items. Program televisions and perform general engineering-related maintenance and inventory tasks. Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before performing maintenance work. Perform repairs to interior and exterior landscaping and exterior irrigation systems. Demonstrate basic computer operation skills, including entering HVAC system schedules and adjusting temperatures. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure both uniform and personal appearance are neat and professional; maintain confidentiality of property information; and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate guest service needs and fulfill them; assist guests with disabilities; and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure quality expectations and standards are met. Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with others; support the team in achieving common goals; and listen to and appropriately respond to other employees’ concerns. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds (4.5 kg) or less without assistance, as well as lift heavier weights or perform tasks involving movement without assistance. Climb up and down stairs, service ramps, or ladders. Reach above head level and below knee level, including bending, twisting at the waist, pulling, and stooping. Enter and locate job-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job-related duties as requested. Relevant Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, preparation of interior and exterior surfaces, and painting. Hotel engineering/maintenance experience is valued. Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience is not required.
