




We are seeking a highly skilled **Buyer** with proven experience in sourcing and purchasing materials critical to manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will specialize in **raw and fabricated steel**, **industrial cloth** and **MRO supplies**, ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and supplier management skills to support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives. ### **Key Responsibilities:** * Source and purchase materials including **steel sheets, coils, plates, fabricated steel parts, cloth, and MRO items** (tools, spare parts, consumables). * Evaluate supplier performance on delivery, cost, quality, and service levels. * Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and secure supply continuity. * Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to ensure materials meet technical specifications and production timelines. * Manage inventory levels and safety stock strategies to balance supply risk and carrying costs. * Analyse market trends and commodity indices (especially steel and oil\-derived materials) to forecast risks and opportunities. * Issue purchase orders and maintain accurate records in Microsoft D365\. * Resolve supplier\-related issues including delays, defects, and invoice discrepancies. * Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships through regular reviews and visits. * Participate in new product introduction (NPI) projects to source materials early in the design phase. * Support continuous improvement and cost reduction projects across the supply chain. **Requirements:** **Education \& Experience:** * Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field. * 5\+ years of experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment. * Deep knowledge of **steel sourcing**, **metal fabrication processes**, and **MRO procurement**. * Experience with industrial cloth and adhesive sourcing is a strong advantage. **Skills:** * Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management. * Knowledge of procurement best practices and sourcing strategies. * Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/specifications (preferred). * Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Just\-in\-Time (JIT) principles. * Excellent communication and organizational skills. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Certification in procurement (e.g., CPSM, CPIM, or PMP). * Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred for cross\-border supplier coordination. * Experience working with international suppliers and import/export procedures.
