




**Job Description:** The Tempering Technician is responsible for operating and monitoring furnaces used to temper metal parts at specific temperatures to harden, temper, or anneal. The technician must ensure that the tempering process is carried out efficiently and safely, following precise procedures to achieve the desired material properties. **Requirements:** **Education:** A degree in Metallurgical Engineering / Materials Science / Technical Certification in Tempering Process or a related field is preferred. **Experience:** **Tempering Technician** Minimum of 2 years of experience operating tempering furnaces. 2\-4 years of experience in the Tempering Department. Basic knowledge of metallurgy. Ability to read and interpret steel material composition and certifications. Ability to read and interpret steel tempering certificates. **Main Responsibilities** · Knowledge of tempering, annealing, and nitriding procedures. · Knowledge of different tool steels and temperature settings for tempering. · Knowledge of hardness testing (HRC, HRB, etc.). Understand the basic tempering process flow. · Maintain accurate records of tempering processes, including temperature charts and cycle times. · Perform regular furnace maintenance, including cleaning and inspection of temperature controls and thermal insulation. · Adjust furnace settings: temperature, time, and cooling rates based on process requirements. · Follow safety protocols and use appropriate protective equipment. **Skills:** Ø **Quality Control:** Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet specifications, using measuring instruments. Ø **Maintenance:** Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure longevity and optimal performance. Ø **Documentation:** Maintain accurate production records, including machine adjustments, product measurements, and any deviations from specifications. Ø **Safety Compliance:** Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment. Ø **Troubleshooting:** Identify and resolve issues with machinery, tools, or materials that may affect production quality or efficiency. Ø **Collaboration:** Work closely with production teams, engineers, and quality control personnel to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement. **Physical Requirements**: · Ability to lift heavy parts and stand for long periods. · Exposure to high temperatures and industrial machinery. **Work Environment**: Tool room with heavy machinery where precision and adherence to safety standards are critical. Exposure to metalworking equipment, cutting tools, and occasionally extreme heat or dust.
