Ensuring effective governance practices across the organization The Data Governance Analyst II is responsible for enabling, operationalizing, and maturing GM Financial’s enterprise Data Governance capabilities. This role drives cross\-functional alignment, promotes a strong data culture, and ensures effective governance practices across the organization. **Why This Role Matters** Data is one of GM Financial’s most critical assets. This role ensures data is trusted, well‑managed, and usable across the enterprise. Effective Data Governance reduces operational and regulatory risk, improves data quality, and accelerates analytics, AI, and modernization work. **Data Stewardship Enablement** * Establish and scale the enterprise Data Stewardship model, including roles, processes, and stewardship communities. * Facilitate steward onboarding, training, engagement routines, and performance measurement. * Partner with business stewards to resolve data quality, ownership, and lifecycle issues. **Data Governance Forums \& Communities of Practice (COP)** * Lead governance forums (e.g., Data Governance Council, Steward Working Groups, COPs) to ensure consistent adoption of DG practices. * Develop agendas, materials, charters, and decision logs supporting cross\-functional governance. * Ensure alignment between governance forums, risk partners, and enterprise priorities. **Data Literacy \& Culture** * Design and deliver literacy programs that increase organizational understanding of DG concepts, roles, data quality expectations, and responsible data usage. * Partner with Learning \& Development to embed DG learning into enterprise curricula. * Promote a culture of data accountability, quality, and transparency. **Data Policies \& Standards Management** * Maintain and operationalize data policies, standards, and guidelines across business and technology teams. * Coordinate policy updates, stakeholder approvals, and communication plans. * Track enterprise compliance with DG policy requirements. **Data Governance UX/CX** * Ensure user\-friendly experiences across DG platforms (catalog, glossary, lineage, DQ dashboards). * Partner with Product Owners to prioritize feature enhancements that improve adoption and usability. * Conduct feedback loops and usability testing with stewards and business users. **Metrics \& Performance Management** * Define, measure, and report Data Governance KPIs. * Produce executive dashboards and insights to communicate program impact. * 3–5 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or related disciplines. * 2–3 years of experience supporting programs, governance activities, or cross‑functional initiatives. * Experience working in large, matrixed organizations. * Foundational understanding of Data Governance frameworks, data management concepts, and data quality practices. * Exposure to metadata management, data catalogs, glossaries, or governance tools. * Familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, Databricks). * Experience in regulated industries preferred. * Strong organizational, coordination, and stakeholder communication skills. * Ability to manage multiple workstreams and execute with attention to detail. * Clear written communication skills for documentation and program materials.
