Communicate with guests/clients to resolve maintenance issues. Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen tools and equipment and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machinery. Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all general service disconnect switches for buildings. Maintain a maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as necessary. Communicate daily activities and problems to employees on other shifts using appropriate communication programs and standards. Demonstrate knowledge or basic aptitude to acquire knowledge in the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management. Perform surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood repairs, replacement of light bulbs and air conditioner filters, and thorough cleaning of paint or repair areas. Test, diagnose malfunctions, and perform basic repairs on all types of equipment, plumbing (e.g., unclogging toilets and drains), electrical components including lamps, cosmetic fixtures, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, replacing switches and outlets, and other guest room items. Program televisions and perform general engineering-related maintenance and inventory tasks. Use the lockout/tagout system before performing maintenance work. Perform repairs on indoor and outdoor gardens as well as outdoor garden irrigation systems. Demonstrate basic computer operation skills, including inputting schedules into the air control system and changing temperatures. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure that both uniform and personal appearance are neat and professional; maintain property information privacy and protect company assets. Greet and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and respond to guest service needs, assist people with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Ensure compliance with quality expectations and standards. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team in achieving common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to other employees' concerns. Speak to others using clear and professional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 50 pounds (4.5 kg) or less without assistance, as well as lift heavier weights or perform tasks involving movement without assistance. Climb up and down stairs, service ramps, or ladders. Reach above the head and below the knees, including bending, twisting the waist, pulling, and leaning. Enter and locate job-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested. DESIRABLE SKILLS Education: High school diploma or equivalent certificate from a General Educational Development (GED) program or vocational/technical training certificate preferred. Related Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, interior and exterior surface preparation, and painting. Hotel engineering/maintenance experience is valued. Supervisory Experience: Supervisory experience is not required.
