For more information, visit www.cimmyt.org CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, innovative, proactive, and self-motivated individual for the position of **General Research Assistant**, to support research activities across various stages of the research cycle—including planting, harvesting, and related tasks. The selected candidate will work at one of our Experimental Stations located in **Texcoco, San Sebastián\-Metepec, Agua Fría\-Puebla, and Ciudad Obregón**. This position is temporary. **Main Responsibilities:** * Assist in seed cleaning. * Assist in preparing materials required for planting. * Assist in preparing field or greenhouse soils. * Assist in planting assigned seeds to the Unit (using machinery and/or manually). * Assist in planting materials in fields or greenhouses. * Assist in protecting planted seeds or crops (e.g., scaring away birds with slingshots or whips, or deterring other rodents that may damage crops). * Assist in installing irrigation equipment. * Assist in crosses (emasculations and/or pollinations) as directed by the immediate supervisor. * Assist in crop pollination and ear harvesting. * Assist in harvesting Unit materials (using machinery and/or manually). * Assist in husking, threshing, or cleaning harvested materials (using machinery appropriate to the activity). * Assist in grinding materials. * Assist in preparing materials for seed separation and identification (envelopes, bags, labels). * Assist in updating seed inventory records. * Assist in identifying and classifying materials. * Assist in shelling, cleaning, weighing, and packaging seeds into envelopes or containers. * Assist in cleaning green areas or common spaces to help maintain Station facilities in good condition. * Perform any other support tasks required by the Unit, as instructed by the immediate supervisor. **Requirements** * Minimum education level: primary school. * No experience required; however, prior experience would be an advantage. * The incumbent must possess strong manual dexterity and initiative. * The selected candidate must demonstrate the following competencies: Critical thinking, Communication, Teamwork, Customer orientation. **Benefits** CIMMYT offers a compensation package compliant with Mexican labor laws and supports continuous professional development.
