Workplace: Arteli Corona Branch Job Description: Butcher A Department: Perishables – Cold Cuts and Red Meats Reports to: Meat Department Supervisor Location: Sales floor / refrigerated chamber Job Objective: To attend to and advise customers on meat purchases, performing cuts according to requested specifications, ensuring product freshness, safety, and proper display. Main Responsibilities: * Receive, inspect, and store meat in refrigerated chambers following hygiene and safety standards. * Cut beef, pork, chicken, and other products according to supermarket standards and customer requests. * Serve customers at the counter, offering specialty cuts and recommendations. * Weigh, package, label, and place merchandise in refrigerated display cases. * Check expiration dates, chamber temperatures, and product conditions. * Clean and disinfect the work area, tools, and cutting equipment. * Assist with department inventory and stock rotation (FIFO: First In, First Out). * Comply with safety and hygiene regulations (use of gloves, hairnets, face masks, etc.). Machinery and Tools Used: * Electric bone saw. * Meat grinder. * Knife sharpener. * Digital scale. * Slicer (for cold cuts). * Refrigerated and frozen storage chambers. * Refrigerated display cases. * Knives of various sizes and cutting axes. * Steel-mesh gloves and personal protective equipment. Hiring Requirements: * Education: Completed secondary school (preferred). * Experience: 6 months to 1 year as a butcher or meat department assistant (experience in supermarkets preferred). * Knowledge: * Types of cuts (beef, pork, chicken). * Operation of basic machinery (saw, grinder, slicer). * Good hygiene practices and food handling procedures. Skills: * Customer attention and service. * Speed and precision in cutting. * Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team. Availability: * Rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
