We collaborate with some of the world’s top technology companies to bring machine learning and data intelligence into materials discovery. We’re looking for a **Junior Data Analyst** who’s recently graduated from university, has a scientific background, and is passionate about data and machine learning. You don’t need to be an expert, just comfortable and skilled at working with data, visualizing it, and building simple models. **What You’ll Do** You’ll collaborate with scientists and engineers to transform raw experimental data into meaningful insights that guide research and innovation. Your work will combine data science with the scientific method — analyzing results, validating hypotheses, and helping improve experimental outcomes. Your responsibilities will include: * **Data Exploration \& Cleaning:** Process, structure, and validate experimental data from real lab environments. * **Statistical Analysis:** Apply statistical methods to test hypotheses, evaluate experimental results, and quantify uncertainty. * **Visualization:** Create clear, informative visualizations to help scientists and engineers understand trends, relationships, and performance metrics. * **Model Development:** Build and evaluate simple machine learning models for prediction, clustering, and anomaly detection. * **Collaboration:** Work with scientists and engineers to translate scientific questions into data\-driven analyses and actionable insights. **What We’re Looking For** **Education \& Background:** * **Recent graduate** (Bachelor’s degree) in a scientific or engineering field such as Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Data Science, or related. * Some prior experience working with data (projects, internships, or coursework). **Technical Skills:** * **Python proficiency**, including libraries like pandas, numpy, matplotlib, scikit\-learn, or similar. * Good grasp of the **core principles of machine learning** and model evaluation. * Ability to **visualize and interpret data** clearly. * Comfortable using **Jupyter notebooks** and **Git**. **Bonus Points If You Have:** * Experience with **neural networks** (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras). * Knowledge of **PEP8** and writing clean, maintainable Python code. * Worked with **RDKit** or other cheminformatics/molecular data tools. * Familiarity with **SQL** or working with structured data. * Used **MLflow** or similar tools for experiment tracking and model management. **Why Join Us** * Work on projects that combine **science, data, and AI**, often in collaboration with **leading global technology companies**. * Learn directly from experienced engineers and scientists working at the intersection of research and machine learning. * Contribute to **real\-world scientific impact** early in your career. * Enjoy **growth opportunities** as Ares expands its data science and AI teams.
