




Summary: The SFA Mechanical Engineer will design and customize chillers within a cross-functional team, solving complex engineering problems with ingenuity and creativity. Highlights: 1. Develop solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity **POSITION SUMMARY** The SFA (Special Feature Authorization) ***Mechanical Engineer*** will contribute to the design and release of customizations to chillers; will work in a cross\-functional development group; managing a variety of tasks and activities are required in this dynamic environment; solve complex problems where no precedence exists. **RESPONSIBILITIES** * Create customizations of chillers as laid out by customer specifications. * Collaborate across the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, as well as production and offering teams. * Perform a variety of engineering design verifications using traditional engineering methods and CAD programs. * Develops solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists \- the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly required * Review completed CAD and schematic drafting to verify design intent **QUALIFICATIONS** **Minimum Job Qualifications:** * 2\-4 years of experience in an engineering field. * Basic understanding of thermodynamics. * Strong understanding mechanical and electrical design. * Ability to work and multi\-task in a fast\-paced environment independently and as a member of a dynamic team; offer and receive constructive criticism * Demonstrated history of delivering quality products to market as part of an engineering team * Excellent project management skills and communication skills **Preferred Qualifications:** * Preferred 4\-8 years of experience in an HVAC related engineering field; experience with Chillers preferred * Experience with PLM systems (BOM management and change order release) * Experience working closely with associates in manufacturing engineering and production roles * Understanding of manufacturing limitations, formed sheet metal and formed copper tubes * Understanding electrical schematic layout and creation * Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 4\.0 and greater **EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS** * Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an accredited college or university **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS** * Light Lifting (5 Ibs.\-25 Ibs.) * Frequent Standing * Frequent kneeling / crawling / stooping * Frequent bending / twisting **ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS** * Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, cut resistant sleaves) **TRAVEL TIME REQUIRED** * (None) \#LI\-LL1
