Focus on maximizing fleet availability and optimizing fleet costs Transportation and logistics company seeks: **Maintenance Manager for the automotive transportation industry (car carriers/nodrizas/automotive transport)** — highly specialized role combining deep technical knowledge in diesel/heavy-duty mechanics with strategic management skills to ensure fleet operational availability and safety during transport of finished vehicles. **MUST HAVE EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE WITH COMPANIES IN THIS INDUSTRY, SPECIFICALLY IN MECHANICAL WORKSHOPS FOR CAR CARRIERS** Academic Profile and Experience * **Education:** Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field. * **Experience:** Minimum 3–5 years in supervisory or managerial roles overseeing heavy-duty fleet maintenance (trailers, car carriers), preferably within the automotive or freight sector. * **Technical Knowledge:** * Diesel engines, hydraulic systems (essential for car carrier ramps), electrical systems, and computerized diagnostics. * Transportation regulations (SCT), road safety, and environmental compliance. * Management of both in-house and external workshops. 2. Key Responsibilities (Functions) * **Strategic Planning:** Design and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize fleet availability and minimize unplanned downtime. * **Cost Control:** Manage the annual maintenance budget, optimizing spare parts consumption, fuel usage, and labor costs. * **Fleet Management:** Monitor the mechanical condition of units ("car carriers") to ensure safe transport of new vehicles. * **Personnel Leadership:** Lead, train, and supervise mechanics, technicians, and workshop staff. * **Maintenance KPIs:** Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and cost per kilometer. * **Procurement Management:** Request and control inventory of spare parts and tools. 3. Soft Skills and Competencies * **Leadership and decision-making:** Ability to resolve complex technical failures under pressure. * **Results-oriented mindset:** Focus on operational efficiency and cost reduction. * **Effective communication:** To report fleet status to Operations Management. * **Organizational skills:** Proficiency with maintenance management software (CMMS or fleet ERP systems). Special attention required for: * **Hydraulic systems:** Perfect operation of pistons and loading/unloading ramps. * **Cargo safety:** Ensuring structural integrity does not damage transported vehicles. * **24/7 availability:** Guaranteeing adherence to automotive manufacturers’ delivery routes (just-in-time). 5.
