




Position Summary: We are seeking an ABE (Amgen Biotech Experience) Program Manager to implement and coordinate biotechnology activities in secondary schools, fostering students’ scientific interest. Key Highlights: 1. Fosters students’ interest in science and biotechnology. 2. Coordinates team and logistics for hands-on molecular biology activities. 3. Develops pedagogical and didactic skills in the STEAM field. **Description:** The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) program was launched in 1990 by the Amgen Foundation in collaboration with scientist Bruce Wallace and educator Hugh Nelson, aiming to introduce secondary school students to modern science and spark their interest in biotechnology. ABE provides teachers—free of charge—with laboratory equipment, materials, training, and professional development to implement hands-on classroom activities. Officially named in 2013, the program offers theory-practice guides primarily tailored to upper-secondary education levels, though they can be adapted to other educational levels, and include techniques used in current scientific research. The purpose of the ABE Program Management role is to contribute to the effective and efficient implementation of the program, enabling teachers and students to acquire knowledge and techniques in molecular biology and biotechnology that foster their interest in science. Key responsibilities include: monitoring project progress between EDUCA and UAM for the AMGEN initiative; coordinating the assigned team; coordinating with UAM’s laboratory for preparation of AMGEN project kits to be delivered to schools; monitoring inventory of all required materials to ensure proper implementation of the AMGEN project; attending mandatory trainings for the AMGEN project; supporting EDUCA’s team during implementation at schools. **Mandatory Requirements:** * *Minimum 6 months of laboratory experience applying molecular biology and microbiology techniques such as electrophoresis, vectors, and bacterial transformation.* * *Teaching experience in biology or science communication is preferred.* * *Interest in developing pedagogical / didactic skills in the STEAM field.* * *Full-time availability; standard work schedule Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day.
